Gabe's Adventure Gabe's Adventure

Practice practice.

One really important thing many beginners completely overlook is that it is kind of vital to know how to draw BEFORE you animate. Animation is just a series of drawings, how can you draw enough pictures to make an animation if you can't even draw one?

I'd also suggest learning the basics of Flash script, as well. awkwardly looping videos like this are usually signs of a novice.

My suggestion is to focus on learning to draw well first, then come back to animation. Good luck in the future.

I was going to try and write a real review, but I'm afraid that during the time it would take to do so my speakers would blow themselves out trying to play this thing, which seems to be progressively getting more and more painful. So I'll just leave this here instead.

Folding Cranes Folding Cranes

Excellent animation

The entire time I was trying to figure out how you'd animated it, exactly. I know you can't use tweens to do some of the things done here but it was all so smooth and perfect I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that you did it entirely frame by frame. Very very well done.

I was iffy about the music at times, occasionally it seemed to fall out of sync with the animation. Then I realized it's an abstract track juxtaposed with abstract visuals, it's lucky there's any syncing at all, ha ha. Once I got in the right mindframe I could find no problems. To use your words, I especially appreciate the 'whipping' motions of the crane, in some spots it almost feels like the stabbing notes of the music are actually folding the paper themselves.

Not a fan of abstract art, but I can definitely appreciate the skill apparent here. Keep at it, good sir.

thanks for such a considered and complimentary review, I'm not used to this sort of treatment. I went through the same battle with the music, trying to keep the animation in sync with it and then just letting it go and only correcting until it felt right :)
